Optimum Strategy

Noting that getting professors onto home campus was almost as valuable as sending hackers to jail, the most desirable -optimum- strategy would be to to both sort hacker blocks on both sides of campus and pull all the professors onto home campus.  Although desirable, this strategy has points of weakness we do not want to exposose Scorpio'bot to: the robot could get stuck on the other side of campus and could not then bring the hackers it collects into jail.
 

Scorpio'Bot's Strategy

The Scorpio robot implements a derivative of the "optimum" strategy. The strategy Scorpio'bot implements is to pull the two central professors onto it's campus and sort hacker blocks on the robot's home campus.

Implementation

The first part of the strategy involves pulling the two central professors onto home campus. When the starting light goes on, the robot orientates itself so that it's tail faces the opponents campus.  It then moves -in reverse- towards the central platform, lowering its tail in the process. When the robot reaches the black line prependicular to the path if its motion, it halts.  The robot then waits for its tail to complete lowering onto the platform. After the Scorpio robot tail is resting on the platform, the robot spins in a 45 degree arct using its tail as a whip to propel one professor onto home campus. The robot then spins 90 degrees in the opposite direction to propel the other professor off the platform and onto home campus.

Next, the robot turns a further 45 degrees so that its body is parallel to the two rows of hackers and students. Then, the robot moves towards the intersection, stopping to pick up hackers as it detects them and leaving students behind. The robot then turns 180 degrees to sort the hackers at the other end of the board. When the robot reaches other side of the board and has finished sorting the two rows of hackers, it turns 90 degrees towards the closest of the two hackers beside the jail.  The robot picks one of these up, turns 90 degrees and moves towards the other one.  After picking up the last of the two hackers beside the jail, it backs up into the jail. The scorpio bot then dumps the hackers into jail.
