If you haven't figured it out already, F.E.T. stands for Frederick, Eddie, and Tian. Keep reading to learn more about us!

Team History

We all met in New House 4, the "family-oriented" house in New House, a relatively obscure dorm far from the MIT campus known for having air conditioning instead of elevators. Seriously, what does A/C do for us in the winter? Anyways, we know each other pretty well after being roommates for quite a long time. In 2002, Tian and Eddie were freshman roommates for the fall semester in 4-511 while Frederick lived next door to them with Richard-Duane Chambers in 4-512. In the spring of 2004, Frederick and Tian lived together in 4-512. All four lived together at the Sidney-Pacific graduate residence in the summer of 2004 in rooms 129B and 129C. Hopefully, we won't kill each other by the end of this IAP.

Frederick Wang
  • Year: Senior
  • Course: 6-1, 7A
  • Hometown: Plano, TX
  • Profile: Frederick grew up in humanities-rich town and came to MIT determined not to become an engineer. What was he thinking? The MIT gods promptly went after him and sucked him into EE after he had chosen to pursue biology because it was the "premed thing to do." Coming off his most anti-social term yet, Frederick was excited about hanging out with people during IAP, but then realized that 6.270 and medical school interviews would sort of get in the way of that. Bummer. The least experienced of the three team members, he spends his time debugging code and wastes time designing this website at home. He figured that he could do these things while traveling to far away places and during 5+ hour layovers caused by the snow that plagues Northern America in the winter. When he is not studying, which happens often, Frederick can be found working out at the boathouse with the MIT Varsity Lightweights. He also enjoys playing pickup basketball and IM hockey during the winter. On Sundays, Frederick goes to CBCGB, a church in Lexington, MA, before returning to work on the robot with his teammates.
Eddie Lin
  • Year: Junior
  • Course: 6-2, 7
  • Hometown: Maryland
  • Profile: Hailing from the famed Montgomery Blair High School, Eddie arrived at MIT thinking that he could conquer the world. While he is known for his mad programming skills, he has also picked up an interest in medicine that has not been thwarted even after watching other premeds suffer through the application process. As a freshman, he lived with Tian, and his dormmates in New House 4 thought he was shy, until he developed a reputation for having female visitors to his room on a consistent basis. In his spare time, he plays online poker with Tian and other video games. He also plays all the IM sports with the New House 4 team, and is quite skilled in tennis, basketball, and hockey. Eddie is involved in many clubs on campus, and he currently holds the treasurer position for two of them. On Sundays, he goes to BCEC, a church in Chinatown, before coming back to work on the robot. Ladies, this man is eligible and available. Bidding starts at $20.
Tian He
  • Year: Junior
  • Course: 6-2
  • Hometown: Atlanta, Georgia
  • Profile:Tian's high school was called Chattahoochee. 'Nuf said. Well, this handsome guy was born in China and moved to the States in his teens. Luckily, he was already fluent in Chinese and can talk and write circles around any A.B.C.s that try to mimic his style. This is how Tian landed a job as the Chinese translator for the New England Patriots football team. If you don't believe this, go to this article. Even though he is an only child (probably due to China's one child law, so his parents got lucky), Tian is actually not all that stuck up and fends well for himself. On a more serious note, Tian brings mechanical engineering experience (NOT) to this team. In his spare time, Tian likes to play basketball and poker. An fun-loving guy, he defined a style of dance that was adopted by several members of New House 4, which promptly got them kicked out of several clubs over the summer...

Before they were famous...they played basketball and had freaky hairstyles (this is only 2 years ago!)
