The body of our robot was built entirely out of Legos. Besides the Legos, our robot has two motors, a Happyboard (the control board), a gyroscope, 4 infrared(IR)-LED/phototransistor pairs, and three bump sensors. The front of our robot consists of a one-way ball gate plus two small wheels. The rear consists of our motors, the gear-train, and the 4-battery battery pack. In the center of our robot sits our Happyboard.

Our robot navigated the board using a proportional controller with feedback from the gyroscope, stopped using the bump sensors, and decided which direction to travel in at the beginning of the round based on readings from our LED/phototransistor pairs.

Q. Aren't Legos for kids?

A. …yes. And no, of course. You see, the box of Legos is clearly marked 7 + . And we are definitely older than 7.
