Our goal was to make it into the evening rounds so that all our friends and
family could watch our amazing robot. Sadly, this was never realized.
We spent
so much time building so many cool and complex gadgets that we forget the
importance of simplicity. By Wednesday, all of us had put much time and
effort into the robot. Yet sleep deprivation was not enough. The pieces of
our robot didn't integrate as well as we hoped. Each piece (the Ball Sucker,
the Ball Pooper, the Elevator, the Drawbridge, the Basket, and the
software) by
itself was unique, efficient, and creative, but together it was simply
a broken
machine.
At the very end we scratched most of it and attempted to
build a
simple machine just to qualify. We did, but never near to our hopes and
expectations of our true vision.
Nonetheless, we enjoyed the course and got to know each other a lot
better. We
all are glad that we had the opportunity to take 6.270 and learn some cool
stuff along the way. Lastly, we are sure that this experience is
invaluable in
preparing us for the real world for we learned the importance of simplicity.
