Lego DUDE
Election 2008 - Choose Your Bot

Icarus-bot's Official Platform:

At the start of the election, depending on the orientation, Icarus-bot turns 45 degrees so that its front or back (whichever one is closer) is facing the center of the board. It then drives out around 40 inches to the midpoint between the two 4-bins so that the shooting path of the opponent to the 4-bin is blocked, and Icarus-bot has full access to all 3 bins. It then turns the correct angle to the 2-bin and shoots either 2 or 3 balls (depending on the goal score). Icarus-bot rotates another 146.3 degrees to face its 4-bin directly, shoots either 3 or 4 balls, and backs up around 36 inches to block the opponent's 4-bin and its own starting area in case the opponent attacks via line following.

Icarus-bot's hexagonal shape minimizes the possibility of a heated standstill between it and another robot. At first, the front spinning wheel of the shooting mechanism was absent, for the balls were intended to be gravity-fed to a servo, but it was insufficient. This wheel was later added to give a kick to Icarus-bot's strategy.
